A Competition in Guangzhou

(YCWB via 6Park)  July 17 was the hottest day of the year in Guangzhou, when temperatures reached 37.4 degrees centigrade.  At a certain shopping mall in Guangzhou, a competition was held.  A total of 33 couples took part, and the name of the game is to be the last couple standing with the woman carrying the man on her back the whole time.  Afer one hour, only four couples had dropped out.  The others continued on, with the male doing his best by offering his services at wiping off the sweat, feeding water, scratching the itch, or even holding up a newspaper for the female to read.

After 3-1/2 hours, there were more than a dozen competitiors still in the hunt.  The organizers decided to resort to the ultimate test in order to find a victor quickly -- all the women were required to stand on one foot.  Within a minute, couples start dropping out one after another.  The last standing couple won the grand prize of 1,888 yuan plus an air conditioner.

Observation #1: Marxism-Leninism-Stalinism-Maoism is dead in China, but of course that occurred some time ago already.

Observation #2: Imagine that you approach the winning couple and try to explain to them why democracy is so very important to them.  What are your chances of getting through to them?
