An Eviction In Futian

(MOP)

At 8am on October 15, 2008, more than 300 workers wearing camouflage uniforms and steel helmets showed up outside the Li family house.  Some of these men carried shields and batons.  There were also other government representatives from the militia police and fire departments.  The Li family asked for negotiations and a temporary halt on the demolition order.  They were unsuccessful.  About half an hour later, the camouflage-clad workers began to throw rocks, causing the Li family to retreat inside their house and bolt the door down.  After several more minutes of rock throwing, a bulldozer was summoned and knocked open the front door of the Li house.  More rock throwing ensued.  Then the camouflage-clad workers workers entered the house with shields, batons and rods and attacked the residents.  When the residents were rendered helpless, they were carried out and taken to the hospital.
